Ex-Twitter India head Manish Maheshwari’s company Invact Metaversity has completed a $5 million funding round co-led by Antler India Arkam Ventures. The company said on Monday it will use the funds to create the metaverse of education.
The funding round also attracted participants from leading Web3 investors including Picus Capital (Germany), M Venture Partners (Singapore), BECO Capital (Dubai), and 2am VC (USA).
Invact Metaversity is a platform founded by Maheshwari and Tanay Pratap to provide skill-based training programs to people looking to align themselves with the changing digital world, helping them to secure opportunities in high-growth technology companies.
Maheshwari also said it his company will use some of the funds to accelerate its global expansion. The platform is built on the next iteration of the internet, dubbed Web3 and wants to usher in the next frontier of education.
However, Invact Metaversity is not the only platform looking to pioneer metaverse based learning. Last month, the Korean government launched a multi-pronged plan that will put the country among the top five metaverse markets globally.
As part of its strategy to succeed in the plan to dominate the metaverse, the Korean government also said it will be opening a metaverse campus that will hold mockup developer and creative competitions for students, as well as, programs to offer lessons for the Korean language.
Therefore, although Invact’s idea of a metaverse of education may sound slightly out of tune with popular projects like blockchain gaming, virtual real estate, and metaverse offices, Korean’s commitment shows that the concept could gain more suitors with time.
Commenting on his company’s successful fundraising campaign, Maheshwari said “we will use this investment to bolster the product and technology team for the Metaversity platform, build a virtual-first curriculum and expand into Europe and the US.”
Invact Metaversity’s metaverse-based service could redefine how organizations provide educational services to students, becoming a crucial part of the ecosystem that drives the 3D virtual world.
