Famed Russian Punk band, and activist group Pussy Riot, will be raising money for Ukraine’s volunteer and charity focused Come Back Alive. February 26th, 12pm EST, the group’s Ukraine Dao launched its 1/1 sale of an image of the Ukraine flag. Participants were also able to donate any amount of money and received a digital souvenir for their aid. In their first 40 hours, over 1.8 million has been raised. An incredible feat for a project started only last week.
Pussy Riot is a feminist, protest-punk rock and performance art group from Russia. They are based in Moscow, and they are known to have actively performed in protest of Vladimir Putin’s policies on LGBTQIA+, religious freedoms, and his “aggressive imperial politics”. Some members have been arrested, attacked, and yet they fight for their beliefs of justice.
On Twitter, Pussy Riot shared, “Our goal is to use what we’re good at, web3, to assist Ukrainians as they cope with the Russian Invasion of their country.” At the time of this article, over $400,000 has been sent to Come Back Alive via crypto, and 100% of the proceeds from the donations and auction will go to supporting the Ukrainians suffering from the war.
The auction will be live until March 1st, and currently has a bid of 1,102 ETH, $2,997,749. Ukraine Dao was created by Pussy Riot as well as Trippy Labs, PleasrDAO, CXIP and a number of Ukrainian Activists. To learn more visit UkraineDao.Love.
