The Sandbox has partnered with Square Enix to bring the legendary role-playing game (RPG) IP of ‘Dungeon Siege’ to the powerhouse gaming metaverse. Through the use of licensed content, Dungeon Siege LAND will provide a starting point for creators to build their own unique Dungeon Siege-infused The Sandbox experiences.
The collaboration, and therefore the opportunity to create unique experiences, will be comprised of two complementary parts. The first part is the delivery of Dungeon Siege LAND on Square Enix’s estate, which will allow players to enjoy interactive RPG experiences whilst they learn the best practices for constructing Dungeon Siege adventures.
The second is the launch of Dungeon Siege voxel characters and items, which will be available for players and creators to incorporate into their unique The Sandbox experience using the free VoxelEdit and Game Maker creation tools.
Dungeon Siege, which is a RPG that follows the story of a young farmer and his companions as they journey to defeat an invading force in the medieval kingdom of Ehb, is an award-winning RPG franchise that has sold over 1.7 million copies, as well as inspiring multiple sequels.
In addition to its epic storytelling traits, the game is also popular within the modding community, which, as Sebastien Borget, COO and Co-Founder of The Sandbox points out, makes it an ideal fit for The Sandbox platform:
