Ubisoft have teamed up with The Sandbox in an initiative which sees the boisterous Rabbids from the Rayman video game series being let loose into the industry leading web3 platform. Through the collaboration, Ubisoft join a long list of other illustrious pop-culture figures who have also put pen to paper with The Sandbox, including the likes of The Walking Dead, Snoop Dogg, Adidas, Warner Music Group, Deadmau5, Steve Aoki, and CryptoKitties.
The partnership, which The Sandbox describes as a strategic endeavour to introduce Ubisoft game IP elements into their platform, has already taken shape through Ubisoft’s acquisition of LAND, which is set to host various interactive experiences for all to enjoy.
Of course, there are also other plans in the brewing, most predominantly being the development of Voxelized Rabbids characters and items, which will be incorporated into players’ own experiences using the VoxEdit and Game Maker creation tools.
Sébastien Borget, the COO and co-founder of The Sandbox has since displayed his excitement for the addition of Ubisoft to the platform’s growing portfolio of partners: “We want to partner with IPs and brands that players already love, such as those of Ubisoft’s world-leading games, to keep bringing fresh new experiences to players alongside popular characters and items creators can use in their own original adventures in The Sandbox. We’re proud to welcome Ubisoft, a forward-thinking company that understands and respects the open metaverse community, to The Sandbox as we work together to create new possibilities for players, fans, and creators”.
Ubisoft have also had their say on the partnership, with their Senior Manager of New Business and Partnerships, Guillaume Mammi, expressing his curiosity into how The Sandbox community will interact with the empowering but mischievous mammal additions, whilst also describing the partnership as a great way for the company to experiment with converging its brands with the metaverse.
As hinted at by Borget, the addition of the furry characters is another proficient example of how The Sandbox are proactively achieving their mission of empowering players through their ability to create individual experiences using both original and well-known characters and worlds.
